Sakon Nakhon Known at ‘Isan’s Dharma Swamp’, Sakon Nakhon is equipped with 5 temples with Buddha’s relics and three-thousand-year-old civilization. It is the birthplace and living place of many respectable monks of Thailand such as Phra Ajaan Mun Bhuridatta Mahathera, Phra Ajaan Fan Acharo, Phra Ajaan Wan Uttamo, Luangpu Lui Chantasaro and Luangpu Tess Tessrangsi. Pay merit at Phra That Choeng Chum, the town’s most respectable temple and witness the glass relics of Phra Ajaan Mun Bhuridatta Mahathera at Wat Pa Sutdhawas. The Phu Phan Ratchaniwet Palace is the residence of the royal monarchs when they visited the Northeastern Region. When not used, people are allowed to visit the palace by sending a letter of request to the royal secretary office.

Nong Han Lake is a freshwater lake that is well known and massive in Thailand. It is populated by about 20 islands. Among them is Koh Don Sawan, the largest island where an abandoned temple with an ancient Buddha statue is located, dotted with many large trees.
